Superintendent’s Message: April 2025

Dear Students, Parents, and Staff,

We have just received word that Arizona is now #1 in Education Funding, April Fool’s – we’re still last or as high as #44 depending on what dataset you want to use. However, our district has been doing some amazing things thanks to the support from our community. The results are beginning to show as another significant academic achievement has been accomplished.

We have seen the number of students earning diploma seals double or even triple based on the seal and the school. We have discussed the seals significantly on some of our recent episodes of our podcast, The Education Exchange, so I would encourage you to watch those episodes to find out more about them. These seals are a testament to student proficiency and dedication in concentrated areas of study. Students can earn seals in finance, biliteracy, civics, and performing and visual arts.

This is an exciting time of year where we start to see the accomplishments of our students and we begin to look at all the knowledge they gained over the course of the year. It is also a great time for our students to finalize plans on where they will be in August. If you’re a senior then you should be finalizing your plans to be enrolled in college, enlisted in the military or employed when you leave us. I encourage you to shout out where you are headed as you take your diploma on stage. If you are an underclassman, then it is a good time to check in with your counselor and make sure that your high school schedule is putting you on a path that you want to travel. In either case, we have less than 2 months to go, and you need to finish strong!

I want to encourage everyone to chase after their future like it’s the Golden Egg on Easter morning. Of course, with the rising egg prices, every egg is a Golden Egg. The hard work of our students, the dedication from teachers and staff and the support from our parents and community are just the right recipe to help our achievement rise again. We believe that we are on the right path to crown another A school in September, will it be your school? Let’s keep working hard until every one of our schools is an A school!
