Tolleson Union High School District's newest high school, West Point High School, is scheduled to open in the summer of 2019.

Facts on West Point High School (WPHS)

  • The name of the new school is West Point High School. The mascot is the dragon. The school colors are red and black. 
  • West Point High School will be on the northwest corner of Avondale Blvd. and Encanto Blvd. in the city of Avondale.
  • The new school is set to open for the 2019-2020 school year with freshman and sophomore students only (grades 9-10). In 2020-2021, the school will accommodate freshman, sophomores, and juniors (grades 9, 10, and 11). In 2021-2022, West Point High School will have its first graduating class serving freshman, sophomores, juniors, and seniors (grades 9, 10, 11, and 12).
  • Phase I of the new high school will include building the instructional space and the athletics and common areas for freshmen and sophomores.
  • Phase II, expected to be completed by the summer of 2020, will build out the rest of the campus including varsity fields for athletics. 
  • Tolleson Union High School District is partnering with Luke Air Force Base to provide an academy with rigorous and challenging curriculum with an emphasis on science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM).
  • West Point High School will have an innovation center that is open and flexible to meet the needs of our students.
  • Former La Joya Community High School Principal, Brandi Haskins, has been named the new Principal at West Point High School.
  • At our November 13 Governing Board meeting, the Tolleson Union High School District Governing Board approved the new attendance boundaries for West Point High School.
