How Does the Governing Board Work?

Board Action

The Board's first concern is for the educational program as it affects students. Final decisions may depart from the advice of the public when, in the judgment of the Board and the staff, such advice is not consistent with District goals, current educational practice, or within reach of available financial resources.

Board Meetings

Regular meetings of the Governing Board are held on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month. Meetings are held at the District Administrative Center, 9801 W. Van Buren Street. Meetings begin at 6:00 p.m., unless posted otherwise. The Governing Board may call for special meetings as needed.

Viewing the Agenda

Copies of the meeting agenda are posted at each District school and posted on the District web site for public review at lease 24 hours in advance of each meeting. The agenda may also be reviewed in the Superintendent’s Office at the District Administrative Center at 9801 W. Van Buren Street.

Placing an Item on the Agenda

If you wish for the Board to discuss or take action on a subject, you may ask that an item be placed on the agenda by submitting a written request to the Superintendent or the Governing Board President three weeks before the Board meeting.
