Special Programs & Services
Adult Learning
A comprehensive adult learning program through CEA offers citizens of all ages an opportunity to set and achieve additional educational goals. Areas of study may include: high school diploma, GED preparation and testing, basic skills training, or any of a host of educational experiences available in a community school environment.
Community Service
In special cases the CEA Director may assist students who have been assigned community service by the juvenile court or by CEA staff. A decision to assist will be decided on a case-by-case basis.
Competency Through Testing
In compliance with Arizona State Board rules (Rule R7-2-302, Section 2), a student has a right to receive credit and a grade if he/she demonstrates mastery through a competency option (testing out). District guidelines apply.
Cooperative Education
This is a state sanctioned program allowing students to receive credit for academic learning and work place experiences. Fifteen (15) hours of work per week and an employer’s willingness to participate qualify a student to enroll in the course of study. Students may earn as much as four (4) credits in a nine-month program.
Correspondence Courses
Home study and correspondence classes are available for most courses.
Distant Learning
Through NovaNET interactive electronic curriculum, CEA can provide learning opportunities to students on the Internet. Upon request the Director will determine if student’s course of study and Academy’s technology are compatible. In special cases laptop computer are available for "take-home" service.
