Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP)

. La Joya did make AYP for the 2008-09 school year and is currently identified as “frozen” in Year 2 of Title 1 School Improvement.  Title 1 schools must make AYP for two consecutive years in order to be removed from school improvement status.  As part of NCLB funding is available that will afford eligible students to receive tutoring services that will assist students and prepare them for successfully passing the AIMS test. There is no cost to families for this service. Currently there are 925 students at La Joya eligible for tutoring. A letter will be sent in January to all eligible students and their parents to share the details of this opportunity.
